Auditions – FAQ

Auditions for Into the Woods are Saturday. We seem to getting the same questions over and over. Allow us to share some FAQ’s here.

I can’t seem to find out where to sign up for my audition time, can you point me in the right direction?
MAC does not require specific audition times. Just show up any time between 10-1.

Where are auditions being held?
As stated in the audition notice, we will be at the Midvale Performing Arts Center. The address is 695 West Center Street (7720 South)

When are callbacks?
As stated in the audition notice, we will be holding callbacks on Tuesday April 29 by invitation only.

Are any roles precast?
Again, we refer to the audition notice. All roles are open.

Should I audition with a Sondheim song?
Sondheim is tricky to plop down for a sight read for any pianist. Our pianist is brilliant, but Sondheim is always hard. Proceed at your own risk!! Of course we want you to sound your best and if you are comfortable with any song you sing for auditions. Just keep in mind, you cannot bring your own pianist, you cannot use a minus track, and you cannot sing a capella. We are not saying not to use a Sondheim song, just make sure it is relatively easy for the pianist to sight read.

I can’t make it Saturday to auditions. Can I audition another time?
We do not have a separate audition time available. You are certainly welcome to contact the producer to see if other arrangements can be made. That is not a guarantee that you will be accommodated. stephanie@midalearts.com

Are there any roles for little kids in this show?
We are not putting age limits on any roles. That being said there really are not roles for small children in Into the Woods. If you are confident in your child’s talent then by all means, please come. Please note that any child under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a guardian to all rehearsals and performances. No exceptions.

Who else is on the production team?
Director is Stephanie Johnson, music director is Jon Wright, assistant director is Peggy Sherratt, choreographer is Ames Bell, and production assistant is Jennifer Hamilton.

Any other question can be directed to stephanie@midvalearts.com. Break a leg y’all and have fun!! See you Saturday.
